Software Upgrade

Performed an upgrade to the blogging software today.  Everything went smoothly.  Wordpress does a nice job with updates.

Snow in April

The weather has been lousy lately.  And today took the cake.  Snow in April.

  • Security and disaster recovery are the foundation, where measurements range from fraud attempts to Web site attacks.

  • System availability and responsiveness, with measures like Web site response time.

  • Project delivery, including timing and budget.

  • Quality, speed, and efficiency in software development, with gauges such as defects allowed into production and lines of code written per developer. Recall rates against a given module.

  • External client measures, such as usage of new features on the Web site or drop-off rates for new features. A ranking of page use.

Feel good about yourself – buy nice cologne

Recently I discovered some really nice cologne brands due to my preference for wet shaving.  I really enjoy Truefitt and Hill’s 1805 cologne.  It smells great and the best part is that it’s just scarce enough that you will rarely run into someone wearing it.  I wrote to another high end fragrance house, Floris, for some samples.  They graciously sent them very quickly and I’ve been trying out their products as well.  Cologne is a very personal thing so it’s best to try samples before making the commitment to an expensive bottle.  With the Truefitt and Hill I also really enjoy their shaving cream.  Their Aftershave balm is not quite as good as some other products I’ve tried.  I’m finding that the key thing with cologne is to purchase from higher end vendors (although there are a lot of high quality products available at a fair price).  These houses make cologne that smells pleasant rather than medicine like and the scent stays with you all day long.
